Position Title: Post Majority Prevention Services Worker

Classification: Full-time permanent (upon successful completion of probation)

Salary Range: $28.00 - $32.00 an hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Location: Magnetawan First Nation, 10 Highway 529, Britt, ON P0G 1A0

Hours of Work: Monday to Wednesday 8am - 5:30pm, Thursday 8am – 4:30pm

(or as projects and deadlines dictate)

POSITION SUMMARY

Magnetawan First Nation’s Child and Family Centre is now accepting applications to fill the position of the Post Majority Prevention Services Worker.

Post Majority Prevention Services

Worker will report to the Social Services Director and as part of the responsibilities they will assist in the transitioning youth/young adults out of care, support Band Representatives in prevention, intervention awareness, and administrative services to the community members of Magnetawan First Nation. This position is a permanent full time position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participate in planning for transitioning youth/young adults out of care.
- Support their wellbeing for their lifelong success.
- Work alongside the Band Representatives in the delivery of support programs and services
- Provide administrative duties for the Band Representatives
- Must be reliable and ensure confidentiality
- Coordinate and present prevention programs/workshops to the public
- Provide Support Services to Post Majority clients on a continuous basis, develop workplans




- Maintains up-to-date documentation for client contact consistent with agency policies and standards.
- Provide advocacy to our Magnetawan First Nation members
- Perform other duties as required by the Social Services Department

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

- Post-Secondary Diploma in Social Work, Native Community Care, or Human Services discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with First Nation children, youth, and families
- Must have experience in case management
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills when working with clients
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Must have a valid G-class driver’s license

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Work is performed in-person, and work environments include office settings, client homes, and other support and service locations.
- Travel to provide transportation to support and services is required.
- Ability to work with various families, youth, and children, to protect children, youth and vulnerable persons, Magnetawan First Nation requires the individual to provide a up to date vulnerable sector check.
- Provide supervision and guidance in a balance of active/quiet; indoor/outdoor; and individual/group activities.
- Plan and implement activities and programs with the Social Services Department as required.
