Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Principal Project Planner to join our growing Projects team in Mississauga, ON. Reporting to the Project Controls and Planning Manager, the Principal Project Planner is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Project Schedule and to lead the management and reporting on project activities in a timelyand consistently accurate manner.
Support the Project Manager and the Planning team to ensure the Project Schedules are put in place and maintained and that they provide quality up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities. Develop and maintain the various (project specific and Company) procedures, work practices, plans, systems and protocols to enable efficient work and maintain a consistent approach and high standard of work. Work collaboratively with personnel across all business units Prepare and effectuate overall project planning, for the entire project lifecycle, for EP/EPCM/EPC projects.
Conversion of study schedule to the Project Schedule using the project approved software package. Creation, implementation and maintenance of Project Schedule. Develop a different level of schedule for the project as well as supporting the business development group during the proposal phase.
Coordination of Project Reporting in accordance with project, Company and Client requirements. Timely identification, notification, optimization, and recording of schedule scenarios supporting trends items that have the potential for future impact within project scope. Respond immediately to change to ensure projects are completed on time in accordance with the contractual scope of work and services Confirm all implementation approaches and controls are reasonable in their establishment and are met throughout the project.
Responsible and accountable for all Project planning functions carried out on designated Projects, whether handled personally or delegated to subordinate staff members. Ensure the quality of output of the allocated Planning team, and that it is aligned with the needs of the project / study, the company’s objectives and meets the requirements of the client. Communicate immediately with the client on matters that affect the project goals.
Manage all members of the planning team in compliance with applicable project / study specific requirements and current industry work codes and standards. Perform critical path analysis and advise the Project Manager and the Commercial Manager immediately on matters that negatively affect project goals. Provide project support and input to proposals, customer presentations, and other marketing / business development activities as required.
Collate and compile project reporting requirements in accordance with company and Client standards to a high level of accuracy and professionalism. Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures. Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
Contribute to Planning team members in trainings professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development. Ensure a high level of communication is attained within the Planning team. Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency within the Planning team.
Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.
Maintain a high level of communication is attained within the Planning team. Provide leadership, guidance, direction and training to the Planning team as required.
Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent preferred. A minimum of 15 years’ experience in project-related scheduling and planning for Mining, Oil & Gas, Heavy industrial, Power or other larges project types Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills. Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development and succession planning for personnel within your business unit.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables. Personal qualities of integrity, work ethics, credibility and commitment. High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of Project Planning and Management.
