PRODUCTION MANAGER

Majestic Arts Centre Limited (MACL) is hiring a Production Manager working on all our productions on The Majestic mainstage and in Theatre Hill Bar & Café. MACL is a non-profit, inclusive, community performing arts venue dedicated to delivering high-quality live productions, including plays, musicals, shows, rentals and special events. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Production Manager to join our production team in a leadership role.

Reports to: Executive Director, Majestic Arts Centre Limited

Hours of work: 40 hours weekly, flexible (evening and weekend work required). The position is an in-person role located in St John's, NL.

Deadline: August 28, 2026. We will review applications as they arrive. We may close the post early for the right person.

Position Overview The Production Manager is responsible for managing the overall production, technical and operational delivery of all shows, performances, events and venue activities at The Majestic Theatre. This person collaborates with the Executive Director and MACL team to ensure all events are delivered safely, efficiently, professionally, and to the required artistic and technical standards. This role combines strategic planning, attention to detail, hands-on production management and requires strong leadership, communication, technical knowledge, budgeting skills, and the ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple events and priorities, simultaneously.

The Production

Manager will also work on fundraising and sponsorships and will source eligible grants, lead grant-writing and manage submissions.

CORE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Key Responsibilities

· Collaboration,



budgeting, artist booking, production planning and execution for all MACL productions,

· Develop and manage production and technical department budgets,

· Monitor production expenses and ensure spending remains withing approved budgets,

· Coordinate production activities throughout the venue and on both stages,

· Develop and manage production schedules, load-in, rehearsals, sound checks, productions, strike and load-out,

· Collaborate on fundraising, grants, sponsorship and other partnerships,

· Provide leadership, direction, and support to the venue’s technical department,

· Oversee equipment inventory, repair, maintenance and capital improvement requirements for technical systems and equipment,

· Manage technician scheduling and training,

· Develop departmental procedures, standards and best practices,

· Participate in the planning for renovations, equipment upgrades and capital projects,

· Assist in budgeting and forecasting for venue facilities and assets, developing plans for equipment upgrades ,

· Assist and support all renters, creative teams, performers and staff to create excellent experiences for renters and patrons,

· Monitor and recommend improvements to communications with all renters, artists and patrons,

· Ensure that all staff have the appropriate tools,



equipment, training and resources to perform their duties effectively,

· Follow all company policies and procedures, Health & Safety, Fire, Employment Standards and Workplace regulations, ensuring they are followed by all technicians and crew,

· Other duties as may be assigned or reasonably expected of a senior leader.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Post-secondary education in theatre, production management, entertainment, or a related field,

· A track record of professional experience in our industry,

· Demonstrated experience with production budgets, scheduling and purchasing,

· Strong connections to the local arts community, theatre knowledge and technical skills are a requirement,

· Experience working in a venue is considered an asset,

· Experience working in a customer service environment,

· Ability to work flex time as required,

· Valid Driver's Licence.

Salary & Perks:

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 annual salary, commensurate with experience. This position is based on 40 hours weekly in a live-event environment and requires regular work during evenings, weekend and holidays.
