This job posting is for a current vacancy with our client.
Our client, a leading content and marketing services organization, is seeking a Production Manager, Retail & Commercial Operations to lead the production environment supporting a major national retail account and broader commercial programs.
This is a hands-on operational leadership role focused on production capacity, resource allocation, workflow performance, quality, team leadership, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will oversee high-volume production across print, digital, e-commerce, photography, and omnichannel content while helping create a more efficient, scalable, and technology-enabled production model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day production planning, capacity management, and resource allocation across multidisciplinary teams.
- Translate project schedules and volume forecasts into practical production calendars and staffing plans.
- Monitor work-in-progress, throughput, turnaround times, quality, utilization, and production bottlenecks.
- Establish production standards, quality controls, workflow processes, and explicit escalation paths.
- Lead and develop production resources while supporting workforce planning, onboarding, cross-training, and performance management.
- Drive continuous improvement through workflow automation, AI-assisted production, digital asset management, and process optimization.
- Manage production decisions against approved budgets, margin expectations, and delivery requirements.
- Partner with Account, Project Management, Finance, and functional teams to proactively address capacity, quality, and delivery risks.
What They're Looking For
- Approximately 8+ years of experience in production management,
creative operations, studio operations, or integrated content delivery.
- Experience leading teams within a high-volume, deadline-driven retail, agency, marketing services, or content production environment.
- Strong understanding of production workflows across print, digital, e-commerce, photography, and omnichannel content.
- Demonstrated experience with capacity planning, resource allocation, workflow management, and operational forecasting.
- Proven ability to improve quality, productivity, turnaround times, workflows, or operating costs.
- Experience implementing production technology, workflow tools, automation, or process improvements.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary, offshore, freelance, or hybrid production resources is a strong asset.
Non-Negotiables
- Strong people leadership experience with direct responsibility for production capacity, resources, and operational performance.
- Experience working within a complex, high-volume production environment with multiple simultaneous deadlines.
- Comfortable using operational data and performance metrics to make resource and workflow decisions.
- Able to balance urgent client requirements with capacity, quality, productivity, and cost considerations.
- Hands-on, calm, decisive, and comfortable driving accountability and continuous improvement across production teams.
- Must understand the distinction between production leadership and project coordination; this role owns people, capacity, quality, workflow, and production execution rather than simply managing project timelines.
Our specialized recruiting professionals apply their expertise and utilize our proprietary AI to connect exceptional talent with outstanding career opportunities.
