This position reports to the Fire Chief and is critical to enhancing training, education, and operational readiness within the Taber Fire Department. The Assistant Fire Chief will be responsible for all facets of firefighter training, ensuring compliance with legislation and developing performance evaluation processes. Candidates should demonstrate solid leadership skills and a passion for fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement in a composite fire service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement training programs for firefighters
• Coordinate internal and external training opportunities




• Act as Duty Officer and Deputy Director of Emergency Management
• Support recruitment and retention of Paid On-Call firefighters
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
Requirements:
• Minimum three years of officer-level fire service experience
• NFPA 1001 Level II certification
• NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I certification
• Current ICS-200 certification
• Post-secondary diploma in fire services or related field
