Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Products & Merchandising Manager to lead our product strategy, assortment planning, product commercialization, and lifecycle management.
This role sits at the center of our Product Engine, connecting market and customer needs with Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, E-commerce, Operations, and Finance.
The successful candidate should have strong experience in fashion, accessories, handbags, wallets, lifestyle products, or consumer goods, with a strong understanding of merchandising, product development, costing, pricing, margins, assortment strategy, and retail/wholesale markets.
This is not simply a product coordination position. We are looking for someone who can answer:
What should we sell, who should we sell it to, at what price, and can we develop it profitably?
Key Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal and annual product and merchandising strategies based on consumer needs, market opportunities, sales performance, competitive analysis, and channel requirements.
- Build product assortments by category, style, price point, color, season, customer, and sales channel.
- Establish clear product briefs before design and development begin.
- Define target customer, product positioning, target retail/wholesale price, target cost, margin requirements, and launch timing.
- Partner closely with Fashion Design to translate commercial opportunities into focused collections.
- Lead the product-development process from concept through sampling, costing, modification, final approval, and production readiness.
- Work closely with Product Developers/Coordinators, factories, suppliers, and sourcing partners on materials, construction, MOQ, quality, lead times, and commercial feasibility.
- Review samples from both product and commercial perspectives.
- Manage target costing and identify opportunities to improve product value and margin.
- Evaluate whether products should proceed, be modified, re-costed, repositioned, or discontinued.
- Develop price architecture and maintain the appropriate balance of entry, core, premium, seasonal, and test products.
- Partner with Sales and E-commerce to develop channel-specific assortments.
- Work with Marketing to ensure product positioning, perks, target consumer, and launch priorities are clearly communicated.
- Work with Finance, Sales, and Operations on demand forecasts, initial-buy recommendations, inventory investment, reorder opportunities, and markdown risks.
- Monitor post-launch performance including sales, sell-through, margin, inventory, returns, customer reviews, quality issues, and reorder performance.
- Conduct regular 30/60/90-day product reviews and turn market feedback into future product decisions.
- Maintain a disciplined product lifecycle:
Develop → Launch → Measure → Reorder / Improve / Markdown / Discontinue.
- Ensure accurate product master information and effective communication across Design, Product Development, Marketing, Sales, E-commerce, Operations, and Finance.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of relevant experience in product management, merchandising, buying, product development, or related consumer-product roles.
- Fashion, handbags, accessories, apparel, lifestyle, or retail experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of assortment planning, product development, costing, pricing, gross margin, and inventory.
- Strong commercial judgment combined with an understanding of product and design.
- Ability to analyze sales data and translate it into actionable product decisions.
- Experience working with overseas factories/suppliers is an asset.
- Understanding of wholesale, retail, DTC, marketplace, and major-retailer environments is highly valuable.
- Strong Excel/data-analysis skills.
- Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Able to challenge ideas constructively and make decisions based on customer demand, financial performance, and market evidence.
Success in This Role Means The right products are developed for the right customers, at the right price and cost, with the right assortment and inventory investment—and product decisions become increasingly data-driven over time. Pay: $35.00 per hour
