Role Description The Project Cost Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Squamish, BC. This role is responsible for monitoring project budgets, tracking actual costs against forecasts, and providing regular cost reports to project managers and leadership. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and updating cost estimates, supporting financial planning, reviewing invoices and vendor contracts, and ensuring accurate cost allocation across projects.
The Project Cost
Controller will collaborate with project teams to identify cost variances, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to efficient resource utilization. The role also involves maintaining cost control tools, supporting risk and contingency assessments, and helping ensure projects are delivered within approved financial parameters.
Qualifications
- Cost Control and Cost Management skills to monitor budgets, track variances, and implement corrective measures.
- Cost Accounting and Finance skills to support accurate cost allocation, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Solid Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide transparent, data-informed recommendations.
- Experience working with project management tools and financial software (e.g., Excel, ERP or project accounting systems).
- Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and communicate cost information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in environmental consulting, construction, or infrastructure projects in B.C. is an asset.
