Project Manager / Estimator - Electrical Service The Opportunity

An established and highly respected electrical contractor is seeking a driven Project Manager / Estimator to join its Service team in Nanaimo. The company delivers electrical and technology solutions across British Columbia, supporting facilities such as hospitals, universities, airports, shipping terminals, and commercial properties.

In this position, you will oversee electrical service projects from estimating and tendering through procurement, scheduling, financial management, and closeout. Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Service Delivery

- Manage electrical service projects from award through completion.
- Coordinate project schedules, labour, purchasing, and material requirements.
- Work closely with field teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to keep projects on track.
- Monitor project risks, deficiencies, and scope changes.
- Attend jobsites as required to review progress and address project needs.

Estimating & Tendering

- Prepare estimates for electrical service projects and change orders.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender requirements.
- Submit accurate and competitive project tenders.
- Identify contractual risks, including onerous clauses and conditions.
- Develop pricing for changes and additional work throughout the project lifecycle.

Business Development & Client Relations

- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.




- Identify new service and project opportunities.
- Liaise with suppliers, consultants, general contractors, and facility end users.
- Provide responsive, solutions-focused customer service.
- Support long-term client retention through consistent project delivery.

Financial & Administrative Management

- Manage project budgets, billing, purchasing, and financial performance.
- Track labour, materials, schedules, and project costs.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
- Review completed projects with the foreman and superintendent.
- Capture lessons learned, project successes, and areas for improvement.

Project Scope

- Commercial electrical service, maintenance, retrofit, and upgrade projects.
- Work within occupied and operational facilities.
- Projects delivered across a variety of commercial, institutional, and infrastructure environments.
- Responsibility spanning estimating, tendering, procurement, scheduling, financial management, field coordination, and closeout.

What You Bring

- An Electrical trade certificate, Electrical Engineering degree, or Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma or certificate is required.
- At least two years of electrical project management and/or estimating experience.
- Demonstrated experience estimating electrical projects or change orders.
- Electrical service or commercial project experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of project financials, scheduling, procurement, and contract documentation.




- Proven ability to develop trusted relationships with clients and project partners.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Procore; Accubid experience and an FSR B designation are considered assets.

Working Environment

- Based from the company's Nanaimo office.
- Combination of office-based project management and site visits as required.
- Work alongside an experienced team of project managers, estimators, field staff, foremen, and superintendents.

- Salary: $70,000-$90,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
