Project Manager: Environmental Impact Assessment

Who We Are

LEGACY was founded in 2021 and is a full-service environmental consulting firm that has grown to more than 50 people across British Columbia. We are an employee-owned, values-driven company that is looking for a talented professional to join our growing team.

As a member of the LEGACY team, you will join a dynamic, supportive environment that fosters learning, teamwork, and professional development. In joining a young and rapidly growing company, you will have the opportunity to not only make a difference to clients and contribute meaningfully to projects, but you will also be able to shape LEGACY, our culture, and our success.

LEGACY will support you in taking the next step in your career—whether that’s more autonomy, the ability to pursue projects that interest you, or advancing to your dream role. We can adapt the responsibilities for the role depending on your interests, expertise, experience, and our needs.

Position Overview

LEGACY is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager based in the Lower Mainland to support our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) practice. To excel in the role, you will bring strong project management experience within regulatory processes. You must be a motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and who can effectively manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate fieldwork, and produce high-quality deliverables.

If you have demonstrated experience working within provincial and federal environmental regulatory frameworks, supporting EIA processes, or delivering complex ecological programs, it would be an asset.

Your primary role will involve leading and coordinating renewable energy projects within the EIA practice, including managing regulatory applications, coordinating field programs, mentoring teams, and engaging with clients, regulators, and Indigenous nations. You will also be responsible for tracking and maintaining alignment with the approved scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager for the EIA practice, your role is expected to include:

- Working closely with project teams to define and achieve project objectives through collaboration and problem-solving.
- Managing project scope, schedule, and budget, plus tracking, invoicing, and client reporting.
- Organizing and supporting the LEGACY team in collecting and analysing information, preparing reports, and making regulatory submissions.
- Coordinating field programs, including staffing and Indigenous nation participation.
- Managing regulatory processes using organizational skills, critical thinking and solutions.
- Liaising with regulatory agencies regarding environmental permitting matters.
- Understanding and working with laws, regulations, guidance and established practices.
- Preparing proposals and work plans to win new work.
- Adhering to and championing our health and safety and quality control policies.

Qualifications To be successful and thrive in this role, we expect you will need the following qualifications and attributes:

- Undergraduate degree in biology, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Five to eight years of relevant professional experience in consulting or a related field with demonstrated abilities as a project manager.
- Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Knowledgeable and experience in addressing regulatory and environmental challenges commonly encountered throughout a project lifecycle.
- Highly motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks,

while remaining flexible and able to adapt to dynamic project priorities and timelines.
- Demonstrated experience managing field programs and overseeing health and safety.
- A working knowledge and experience of British Columbia and federal environmental legislation and regulatory permitting processes.
- Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing high-quality reports.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to work in remote field conditions.

Also, please tell us if you have any of the following:
- A graduate degree.
- Project Management Professional certification or a professional designation (e.g., RPBio)
- Experience working with a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors

Benefits We will offer you the following benefits:

- A hybrid work setting allowing you to alternate your location between our downtown Vancouver office, our Coquitlam office, or your home office location.
- Opportunities for personal growth and professional development.

- Competitive starting salary in the range of $90,000 to $130,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Matching RRSP contributions.
- Extended health benefits.

If your academic and professional experience is different to what is described above, but you are confident you would excel in this role, please apply!
