Project Manager

Genesis Metalworks – Brantford, Ontario The Opportunity

Genesis Metalworks is looking for an experienced, highly organized Project Manager to join our growing team in Brantford, Ontario.

The Project Manager will take ownership of fabrication projects from the initial customer inquiry and quoting stage through engineering coordination, production, quality control, delivery, and project closeout.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that successful fabrication projects require more than managing a schedule. You will work closely with customers, engineers, estimators, fabricators, welders, quality personnel, and management to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and practical problem solver who can read drawings, understand fabrication processes, anticipate challenges, and keep multiple projects moving in a busy shop workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Coordination

- Manage RFQs from customers and provide timely and accurate quotes.
- Manage projects from award through final delivery and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, priorities, and deliverables.
- Coordinate multiple custom fabrication and production projects simultaneously.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify schedule, cost, quality, or production risks.
- Communicate project requirements, priorities, and deadlines clearly to the production team.
- Coordinate workflow between engineering/design, estimating, fabrication, welding, finishing, quality, and delivery.
- Ensure projects are properly reviewed and planned before entering production.
- Track project costs, labour, outside services, and overall profitability.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, revisions, specifications, schedules, customer requirements, and communications.
- Coordinate delivery requirements with logistics and customers.
- Ensure project changes are documented, communicated, and incorporated into production planning.
- Keep management informed of project progress, risks, and required decisions.

Customer Management

- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers throughout each project.
- Build strong, professional relationships with estimators, manufacturers, engineers, and other customers.
- Review customer requirements and clarify project scope, specifications, timelines, and expectations.
- Provide customers with accurate and timely project updates.
- Communicate potential delays, changes, or concerns as early as possible.
- Manage changes to scope, pricing, drawings, specifications, and timelines.
- Ensure changes are reviewed, approved, documented, and communicated before work proceeds.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and develop practical solutions that protect both the customer relationship and Genesis Metalworks’ interests.
- Help customers move projects from a concept, sketch, or engineered drawing to a completed fabricated product.

Genesis Metalworks is committed to making the fabrication process straightforward for its customers: receive the project description or drawing, provide a quote, establish a completion timeline following approval, manufacture the product,

and coordinate delivery. The Project Manager plays a key role in delivering that experience.

Production and Fabrication Coordination

- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements with the production team.
- Understand fabrication methods including cutting, forming, welding, assembly, and finishing.
- Coordinate work involving CNC laser cutting, press-brake forming, custom fabrication, MIG/TIG/Stick welding, and production welding.
- Identify potential fabrication issues before production begins.
- Work with shop personnel to determine the most efficient and practical approach to completing projects.
- Ensure production teams receive the correct drawings, specifications, and project information.
- Ensure drawing revisions and customer changes are communicated promptly to the appropriate team members.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules and priorities when required.
- Coordinate field repairs or mobile welding requirements when applicable.
- Ensure completed work meets project specifications and Genesis Metalworks’ quality expectations.
- Support an organized and efficient flow of work through the shop.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

- Ensure projects are completed according to customer specifications, approved drawings, and applicable standards.
- Support Genesis Metalworks’ ISO quality-management processes.
- Promote quality throughout every stage of a project rather than relying solely on final inspection.
- Identify non-conformances and coordinate corrective action when required.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, and traceable.
- Promote safe work practices and support a strong shop safety culture.
- Work with production and quality personnel to maintain Genesis Metalworks’ standards of workmanship.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and helping implement practical solutions.

Quality management, risk management, consistency, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement are important parts of Genesis Metalworks’ ISO 9001-certified approach.
