Role Description The Property Manager is a hands-on, on-site role responsible for the day-to-day care of our commercial plaza in Amherst, NS. This is a replacement position taking over a well-established routine, offering excellent flexibility while ensuring a steady baseline of hours. You will handle basic daily maintenance tasks such as cleaning common areas, walkways, and exterior grounds, while keeping a proactive eye out for any property needs.

The role also involves being the primary on-site contact for specialized third-party contractors (HVAC, fire/sprinkler, paving, inspections, etc.) — welcoming them, showing them around, and passing along relevant details to the management team. You will help track ongoing repairs, collect contractor quotes for review, and follow up on outstanding items as directed. Day-to-day routine tasks are carried out independently, while larger decisions or unexpected issues are overseen by the main property management team.

You will also check in with tenants periodically to provide updates on maintenance timelines.

Employment Type & Hours

Hours: 10 to 25 hours per week as a steady baseline. We are highly open to negotiation, and hours can be increased/expanded based on candidate availability, mutual agreement, or seasonal property needs. This is ideal for someone looking for a dependable income with room to grow.

Status: Part-time Employee OR Independent Contractor (Flexible based on candidate preference).

Salary

- Employee Rate: $25.00/hour + Extended Health & Dental Benefits.
- Independent Contractor Rate: $30.00–$32.00/hour (adjusted for independent status; benefits not applicable).

Qualifications

- Reliable and dependable — able to show up consistently and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Comfortable doing basic physical and light maintenance work (cleaning, light upkeep, walking the property).
- Clear communication — comfortable interacting professionally with tenants, contractors, and keeping the remote property management team updated.
- Teachable and responsive — able to take direction well and execute instructions accurately.
- Organized — capable of tracking a few ongoing maintenance items and following up when needed.
- Comfortable being on-site in Amherst, NS, and available to respond reliably when tasks or contractor visits arise.
- Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn on the job.
- Experience in property maintenance, customer service, or trades is a bonus, but not required.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
