Georgian Waste Services is hiring a knowledgeable Safety Specialist in Barrie, Ontario. This role involves developing health and safety procedures while ensuring compliance with Ontario regulations and traveling to multiple sites.
As a Health and Safety Specialist, your responsibilities will include reviewing and enhancing existing safety programs and policies to promote compliance with the Ontario Ministry of Labour. You will work closely with staff across locations to implement effective safety practices and support training initiatives. This position requires flexibility for travel to both Midland and Orillia locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and develop health and safety policies and programs
• Update documentation to ensure regulatory compliance




• Identify areas for improvement and recommend actions
• Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Support managers and employees on safety-related issues
Requirements:
• Experience in a Health and Safety role
• Solid knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Driver's license for travel between locations
