About The Role
- Act as Technical Lead for electrical engineering teams on utility, mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
- Lead the design and replacement of substation equipment, including circuit breakers, disconnect switches, transformers, station service systems, switchgear, motor control centres, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Design and specify electrical power distribution systems and equipment for utility, mining, transportation, industrial, institutional, and public sector facilities.
- Support the electrical design of mining and mineral processing facilities, including crushing plants, conveyors, pumping systems, concentrators, SAG and ball mills, tailings facilities, water management systems, and associated power infrastructure.
- Perform and review electrical engineering calculations and system studies, including:
- Short‑circuit studies
- Protective device coordination studies
- Load flow analysis
- Arc flash studies
- Ground grid analysis
- Motor starting studies
- Harmonic analysis
- Power quality assessments
- Develop and review engineering deliverables including:
- Single‑line diagrams
- Equipment layouts
- Grounding layouts
- Lighting layouts
- Cable schedules
- Protection and control drawings
- Construction and installation packages
- Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, and site reviews at substations, mine sites, and industrial facilities.
- Perform field reviews during construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
- Prepare technical specifications, tender packages, procurement documentation, cost estimates, and construction installation packages.
- Evaluate existing utility and mining infrastructure and develop asset replacement, modernization,
and expansion strategies.
- Participate in feasibility studies, options analyses, conceptual studies, and capital project development for utility and mining clients.
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, suppliers, equipment vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with company quality systems, utility standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers and provide technical leadership across project teams.
- Support proposal development, client engagement activities, and business growth initiatives.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Canada.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project and operating sites.
- Minimum 12+ years of experience on multi‑disciplinary projects in electrical engineering within utility, mining, industrial, infrastructure, or power generation sectors.
- Strong knowledge of:
- CSA Standards
- Canadian Electrical Code
- IEEE Standards
- ANSI Standards
- Utility and industrial design practices
- Experience using ETAP or equivalent power system analysis software.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Remote power generation and distribution systems.
- EPCM and Owner’s Engineer project delivery environments.
- Construction support, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.

Salary
Salary range: $135,000 - $185,000.
Expected salary: Variation in salary is determined by qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
