Rose Hill Care at Home is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Recreational Aide to support a seniors day program in Bradford.

The program operates Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and provides seniors with a safe, welcoming environment where they can socialize, participate in meaningful activities, stay active, and enjoy their day.

The Recreational Aide will take a lead role in planning and delivering engaging daily programs tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of our senior clients.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead daily recreational and social activities for seniors

Facilitate activities such as

- Arts and crafts
- Games, bingo, trivia, and puzzles
- Music and entertainment
- Gentle exercise, stretching, and chair-based activities
- Memory and cognitive stimulation activities
- Social events and group discussions
- Holiday and themed programs

Develop a structured weekly and monthly activity calendar

Encourage participation while respecting each client’s preferences and abilities

Adapt activities for seniors with dementia, cognitive impairment, mobility limitations, or other support needs

Promote social interaction, independence, and overall well-being

Monitor client participation, mood, and behaviour and communicate concerns to the appropriate care staff

Maintain attendance and basic activity documentation

Prepare activity materials and manage recreational supplies





Assist with special events and celebrations

Work collaboratively with PSWs and other members of the care team

Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and positive environment

Qualifications

- Previous experience working with seniors is strongly preferred
- Education or training in Recreation and Leisure Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Service Work, or a related field is an asset
- Experience in an adult day program, retirement residence, long-term care home, community centre, or similar environment is an asset
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia or memory loss is an asset
- Comfortable leading both group and individual activities
- Creative, enthusiastic, patient, and dependable
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and organize activities independently
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a care team
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Recent Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
