Part-Time - Permanent

Contributing to the health and well-being of children, youth, and adults, you “Take Care of Banff” by delivering exciting public recreation programs, youth programs and special events. Working independently, you will lead and facilitate K–4 registered after-school programs, youth drop-in and registered programs, and programs at Community Events. You will lead meaningful recreational program activities and complete various lesson plans to ensure participants are fully engaged and having fun in a protected environment. You easily demonstrate the Town of Banff's employee Mission and Values: Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability, Efficiency and Professionalism. You can professionally communicate with co-workers, volunteers, parents, and supervisors by e-mail, telephone or in person.

The position’s accountabilities are

- You plan, deliver, and facilitate meaningful recreation programs in various settings for all ages, focusing on increasing physical literacy, life skills and social connectedness. Including but not limited to:
- Into the Wild, Into the Woods, The Basement/Outsiders, Get Out, Mountain Adventures, resident focused community events, and Drop-in Programs.

- Exceptional interaction and communication skills, achieving understanding of children and youth, parents and adults, co-workers and external partners;
- Blending the outcomes of physical literacy, life skill-building and social and nature connection with diligent tracking and report requirements;
- Ensuring the safety and supervision of program participants and completing safety checks in the program space.

Ideally, you have completed a post-secondary program in recreation, social work, childhood studies, education,



physical education and/or leadership. Education in childcare courses/workshops, such as Physical Literacy 101, High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development, NCC – Fundamental Movement Skills, is preferred. A combination of education with at least 1-2 years of work experience with children and youth, demonstrating the responsibilities listed above, will be considered. You will be required to confirm current First Aid certification and an RCMP criminal background check with vulnerable sector clearance. Working safely is a condition of employment at the Town of Banff.
