Job OverviewWe are seeking reliable, customer-focused individuals to join our team as Recycling Depot Attendants for the Beyond the Curb Pop-Up Recycling Program. In partnership with the CRD, the Bottle Depot supports staffing at community markets and recycling hubs. This program enhances local recycling efforts by providing convenient drop-off locations for materials not collected curbside, including flexible plastics, foam packaging, and small appliances.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with the public, are environmentally conscious, and thrive in an outdoor setting.

Program Overview The Beyond the Curb program is expanding service areas from Victoria to Sidney and Langford

- Community Markets: multiple market locations operating Saturdays from mid-May through late September
- Recycling Hubs: Two primary hub locations operating on Saturdays and Sundays
- Schedule: Weekends
- Shift Length: 5 to 8 hours, depending on assigned market or hub
- Wage: $23.50 per hour
- Program Duration:
- Markets: Mid-May through late September
- Hubs: Year-round

Key Responsibilities

- Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service to support recycling participation
- Assist customers with proper sorting of accepted materials
- Receive, sort, and organize recyclable items,



including plastics, foam, and small electronics
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work setting
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Assist with set-up and takedown of tents, signage, and equipment
- Support overall program operations and team objectives

Qualifications & Requirements

- Availability to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Knowledge of recyclable materials is an asset
- Willingness to work at multiple program locations
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license is considered an asset, but not required

Position Summary This position plays a key role in a community-focused initiative designed to expand recycling access and provide convenient, local options for residents. As part of the Beyond the Curb program, you will help make recycling more accessible, efficient, and environmentally impactful.

Pay: $23.50 per hour
