Come join the adventure with our Day Surgery/Surgical Short Stay team at the PLC. As the Registered Nurse, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team you will be an integral part of the the patient experience, seeing a diverse populations of Albertans and their families who require surgical stay and ensure a positive surgical experience.
The Registered
Nurse provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient/family care needs. You will provide education to patients, their families and act as a strong patient advocate through collaborative discharge planning for both the Day Surgery and Surgical Short Stay patients. You will also provide peer education regarding best practices, practice updates, and participate in research activities.
You’ll provide leadership to your team, strong organization, concise communication skills, a collaborative approach to working with your team, and the ability to be flexible and agile in an ever-changing environment. You will be expected to act as the Charge Nurse when required, and support the development and practice of your peers. To be successful in this role, you will possess an understanding of how patients and their families are at the center of care strategies and strive to be inclusive and welcoming to reflect the needs and supports required for the populations that we serve (i.e. ethno-cultural, equity-seeking, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons across all age groups, etc.).

Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life
Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications
Minimum of three (3) years of Nursing experience within last seven (7) years in inpatient surgical nursing. Previous experience providing education to patient populations. Demonstrated positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated initiative and independence in a team environment. Strong critical inquiry and communication skills. IV therapy certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 1 to 2 recent years Day Surgery experience.
Experience using Connect Care.
Indigenous
Awareness and Sensitivity Training.
