This is an exciting opportunity at the Strathcona Community Hospital. This facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department, and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services.
The Registered
Nurse position is the ‘front line’ representative in delivering care within the Ambulatory Care Clinics and Outpatient IV Therapy Departments. Based on a primary health care model, the incumbent functions within a multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. This work would involve; health promotion and prevention, health education, and treatment of illness and injury.
The incumbent performs a variety of nursing related duties in accordance with clinical policies and standards. The incumbent must have strong leadership, judgement and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to participate in inter-professional collaboration.

Nurse will play a key role in providing safe, quality, patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. The successful incumbent will be required to support all outpatient services/clinics at the Strathcona Community Hospital.
Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life
Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years recent experience (within the last 3–5 years)
in an outpatient/ambulatory care setting required; equivalent emergency or acute care experience will be considered. Demonstrated experience in comprehensive patient assessment across diverse populations, including neurological and geriatric assessments, is required. Proficiency in complex wound care, including assisting with advanced procedures such as debridement, is essential.
Experience performing Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) measurements and supporting patients with complex medical needs is an asset. Strong clinical knowledge and skill in IV therapy required, including administration of antibiotics, blood products (PRBCs, platelets, albumin), IVIG, iron infusions (including Monoferric), electrolyte replacement, and medications such as Remdesivir, Aclasta, WinRho, and Solu-Medrol. Demonstrated ability to manage a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Experience with Connect Care (Ambulatory Applications), EMR documentation, and patient scheduling preferred. Robust interdisciplinary collaboration skills and the ability to support multiple specialty clinics, including but not limited to ENT, General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Women’s Health, Infectious Disease, and Emergency Transition.

Proven ability to adapt in a dynamic, high-volume environment. Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and patient education skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment, constant walking, lifting and bending necessary.
