Island Health’s Department of Midwifery is looking for a dedicated qualified to meet the needs of families in Parksville, Qualicum Beach, and surrounding areas. As a midwife at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH), you will collaborate with a team of 14 permanent midwives, supporting around 1,200 births annually. This position requires full licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives and relevant training experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide full-scope midwifery care including antenatal and postpartum support




• Offer home birth services to families in the community
• Work alongside obstetricians and pediatricians for seamless care
• Attend deliveries at NRGH
• Support clients through all phases of pregnancy and birth
Requirements:
• Eligibility for full licensure with BCCNM
• Relevant education and midwifery training
• Commitment to complete Indigenous Cultural Safety training
• Experience in both community and hospital settings
• Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals
