Join the University of Saskatchewan as a Research Technician in Plant Breeding and participate in the development of new wheat varieties. The role involves hands-on work with nursery maintenance and sample organization. In this term position, you will support the breeding program through various activities such as establishing nurseries and operating small plot equipment.
A reliable background in data collection and equipment operation is crucial. This role requires commitment to working flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as well as lifting up to 25 kg. A valid class 5 driver's license is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish breeding and yield nurseries
- Operate small plot equipment for research projects
- Collect and manage data effectively
- Organize harvested samples for analysis
- Report to a senior technician in the program Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in agriculture preferred
- Practical experience in field research environments
- Familiarity with MS-Excel® and MS-Word®
- Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions
