Residential Support Worker (RSW)Join Our Team

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and reliable Residential Support Workers (RSWs) to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to children and youth living in our licensed residential and foster care programs. Position Summary The Residential Support Worker (RSW) provides direct care, supervision, and guidance to children and youth in a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the RSW supports the emotional, social, educational, cultural, and physical well-being of each child while implementing individualized care plans and promoting positive growth and independence.

The successful candidate will build trusting relationships with youth, respond effectively to crises, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with agency policies, Ministry licensing standards, and best practices in trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide daily care, supervision, and emotional support to children and youth in accordance with individualized care plans.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that promotes stability, growth, and well-being.
- Build positive relationships with youth by serving as a mentor, role model, and advocate.
- Support the development of life skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving abilities, and independence.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and provide crisis intervention using trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.
- Facilitate recreational, educational, cultural, social, and therapeutic activities that encourage healthy development.
- Transport and accompany youth to school, medical appointments, community programs,



and family visits as required.
- Administer medications and support health care plans in accordance with agency policies and legislative requirements.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, progress notes, incident reports, and medication records.
- Collaborate with Children's Aid Society (CAS) workers, clinicians, educators, families, and other community partners to support positive outcomes.
- Participate actively in case conferences, staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Promote cultural humility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies, Ministry standards, and relevant legislation.

QualificationsRequired
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with children and youth in residential care, child welfare, foster care, youth justice, mental health, or related human service settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, child and adolescent development, and behaviour management strategies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.




- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as required.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent crisis intervention certification.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Child Welfare Record Check.
- Broad Record Check (if applicable).
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle is considered a strong asset.

Preferred
- Experience supporting youth with complex behavioural, developmental, or mental health needs.
- Knowledge of Ontario child welfare legislation, Ministry licensing standards, and residential care regulations.
- Experience working within culturally diverse communities using anti-oppressive and culturally responsive practices.
