JOB SUMMARY
Clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring that you adhere to the hotel’s standards of cleanliness. Responsible for: reporting any maintenance deficiencies, and handling guest’s requests; issues or concerns. Ensure the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms and guests.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
Ability to grasp; bend, reach, stretch, push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to WHIMIS regulations and hotel requirements. Ensure proper chemical labels are visible and in proper bottles.
· Clean assigned guest rooms by priority, based on room type; checkout, occupied or the necessity to have certain rooms back for resale inventory.
· Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities and linens to assigned guest rooms and position securely in front of guest door. Store carts behind locked doors during break time; fire drills or at the end of shift. Carts should not be left in the hallway unattended.
· Empty all garbage, and recycling bins from the room.
· Remove /Changing all dirty terry/linen from the bathroom and beds, and replace with clean par to designated layout.
· Send dirty linen down the laundry chute after cleaning the room.
· Update room status on assignment list once the room has been cleaned.
· Check for damaged or stained linen. Place linens aside to be counted in discard log.
· Make up cribs, rollaway beds and sofa beds as assigned by management.
· Bathrooms: (e.g. showers, showers walls, tubs, tub walls, sink, toilets, and all bathroom surfaces and items.). Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from drains. Clean bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor.
· Assist evening houseman when needed on busy days.
· Replace laundry bags and slips.
· Participate in linen inventory
· Clean and replenish the coffee maker set and glass/mug placement.
· Clean closets and door tracks in all rooms, removing dust and debris.
· Replace all amenities/collateral items/supplied in the room and bathroom. Amenities should not be crumpled or look used. Collateral should be to standard.
· Vacuum throughout entire room and spray room with deodorizer. Report carpet stains and fraying of carpets.
· Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers, extra blanket/pillows are in the room. Par stock standards must be maintained.
· Closet linen bag must be checked and replenished if necessary.
· Washing floors with appropriate tools and chemicals.
· Dust and polish all furniture, pictures, frames, mirrors, light bulbs and switches, TV and remote, as well as cables and door handles
· Realign furniture to floor plan or room design. Call for assistance if you cannot move.
· Dust and clean room decoration, appliances and structural surfaces. (e.g. lamp shades window sill vents, fridges and microwaves back of entrance doors)
· In larger suites, clean all dishes; cutlery and glass ware, appliances and floor.
· Open and clean all drawers/doors in all the rooms and leave open for inspection.
· Adhere to Lost and Found policy; return all items to be logged in Housekeeping log; including all food items and paper work. Property removal passes must be given to remove items.
· Key control is mandatory.
Keys must be signed out at the start of shift and signed back in at the end of shift. Keys are not to be lent or given out to anyone.
· Report any maintenance problems to the housekeeping supervisors.
· Keep storages rooms, vacuums and housekeeping carts clean. Storage room doors must remain locked.
· Check under bed(s), chairs and sofa for debris and remove if present.
· Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains; report any damages to your supervisor.
· Remove dust, spots and smears from all doors, drapes, windows, ledges, frames, baseboards, AC cover/vent, corners, telephones and bathroom vents.
· Provide information to the guests about the hotel services, facilities and other amenities or attraction. Always approach guests in friendly manner. Call your supervisor if you do not know the answer to a guest question or if there is a concern.
· Empty all dirty linen and garbage from the carts. Change vacuum bag when needed and clean, wipe vacuum and return to storage. Report any maintenance requirements to equipment to your supervisor.
· Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys. Report lost keys immediately. Do not open any guest rooms when asked by a Guest. Refer them to the front desk.
· Be mindful of your customer service to the guest.
· Attend meetings and training as required. These can be mandatory.
· Complete hotel fire/safety training and emergency/ evacuation procedures.
· Perform project work and specialty cleaning as assigned by supervisor. Work cannot be refused based on seniority on the schedule.
· Housekeeping duties; project work and assignments may be changed by housekeeping management based on urgency and occupancy levels.
· Maintain standard of punctuality; scheduling, requests off, vacation, uniform code, name tags, personal hygiene and overall appropriate dress code. (eg.shoes, socks, hair tied up)
· Follow the Bona Hospitality Code of Conduct; Bill 168 and Bill 132.
· To help build the team by assisting in orientation and training new staff.
· To be expected to help other team members, when your work is complete or to take other rooms when you have multiple DND’s and No Services.
· Set up room carts; keep them clean and do not take items from other room attendant carts
· Deep cleaning / project work to the standard of the hotel.
· All hotel property; uniforms to be respected and taken care of.
· Proper use of break times and lunch breaks.
· Responsible for time cards; reporting errors, being late, sick and your schedule
· Management reserves the right to ask the staff to perform any other job related duties.
Appearance:
· Check your appearance before the shift
· Uniform: clean (washed) and neatly pressed ( no tears or stains)
· Uniform should fit properly, no substitutes, like yoga of stirrup pants, not too tight
· Shoes: black and polished (non-slip)
· No unauthorized jewelry or pins
· Hands and nails clean, no chipped nail polish
· Physical hygiene practiced daily, including deodorant, minimum use of perfume
· Hair neatly combed, conservatively styled. Men clean-shaven daily.
· Name badges worn at all times
· Black color stockings or socks
Greeting and closing:
· Great each guest you see: ‘’ Good morning (afternoon, evening). ‘’
· Make the guest feel welcome: ‘’ How are you today? ‘’
· Whenever possible, personalize your service by using guest name

· Be of help and assistance! ‘’ Is your room comfortable?’’ ‘’ Let me know if I can help you’’
· When you see a guest leaving, say ‘’ Thank you for staying with us. ‘’ ‘’ have a safe trip’’
· Make sure that all guest doors are properly closed.
Attention to details:
· Check the appearance of your cart before leaving.
· Make sure linen closet is locked at all times.
· Be careful with hotel property. Don't scrape walls when pushing carts through hallways.
· Guest security is very important. Our guests expect to feel safe in going to and from their rooms. Report any suspicious behavior immediately to your supervisor on duty.
· In the event any damage should occur to guest belongings in the room, report it immediately to the Supervisor. (Notes should not be left for the guest.)
· Do not have radios blaring loud in guest areas.
· Yield the elevator to guests when busy.
Attitude:
· Be friendly, respectful and responsive to guests needs and requests
· Keep your voice low on guest floors so as not to disturb guests in their rooms.
· Be as pleasant as possible without interrupting the guest with unnecessary conversation.
· Be positive when you start your shift and show respect to the guest as well as your co-workers and supervisors.
· Do not be argumentative when things are not going your way. Talk to your supervisors for assistance, or book some time with the Executive.
