This is a Temporary Part-Time Clinical Scholar position supporting Emergency and Critical Care Program. Start date: August 17, 2026 Ending on or before: March 31, 2027 The Clinical Scholar Program (CSP) is a program that provides experienced nurses with leadership and mentorship opportunities in a Clinical Scholar role while working in a supernumerary position. Reporting to the Manager of Professional Practice and Education, the Clinical Scholars will mentor newly graduated nurses, nurse externs, internationally educated nurses (IENs), and nurses seeking to upskill, transition into the emergency and/or critical care setting. The Clinical Scholar will support and supervise the integration of nurses into the emergency and/or critical care environment while promoting evidence-based practice, competency development, quality improvement, and patient safety. Key Responsibilities

Design, deliver, and evaluate educational programs, incorporate adult learning principles while providing feedback, coaching and mentoring. Assess unit-level learning needs and support novice nurses to meet their goals.



Provide comprehensive educational needs and evaluation to support newly hired nurses during orientation Provide direct and indirect supervision, mentorship and coaching to nursing staff Provide leadership in the delivery of evidence based nursing care and facilitate the integration of research into meeting established patient care standards/guidelines/protocols Contribute to the evaluation of educational goals and learner outcomes Foster positive staff interactions and a supportive learning culture Support unit initiatives, quality improvement activities, and practice changes Act as an expert resource and role model for the delivery of high-quality care. Ensure patient care complies with standards, legislation and regulations. Report non-compliance to program/unit manager. Essential Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Critical Care Certificate or Emergency Nursing Certificate Minimum three (3) years recent frontline nursing experience in a hospital setting, including Emergency Department. Previous experience teaching, precepting, mentoring, or working with clinical learners or IENs Demonstrated leadership, change management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Demonstrated ability to work with interprofessional teams. Excellent clinical, assessment, communication and organizational skills.



Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills with Epic. Commitment to continuing education and professional development. Knowledge of and adherence to Ross Memorial Hospitals Core Values Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at RMH through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes. Recent satisfactory performance with demonstrated excellence in attendance required. Knowledge of and adherence to Occupational Health & Safety and infection control principles. Must have a through understanding of and familiarity with patient management in a critical care environment including cardiac/stroke (telemetry monitoring) and other general internal medicine conditions. Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field. Membership in RNAO and other related professional organizations Experience with developing and/or giving presentations (oral and/or visual) at conferences and/or workshops Experience leading quality improvement, patient safety or evidence-based practice initiatives. Hours of Work

Must be able to work eight (8) and twelve (12) hour shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shift hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement. Employment Equity
