Headquartered in Calgary, AOR is seeking an experienced Sanitization Coordinator to join our team.
The Sanitization Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving sanitization processes within AOR’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production areas, equipment and related workspaces are maintained to established sanitation, GMP, quality and safety standards, while ensuring compliance with all applicable sanitization procedures and requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day sanitization activities within the Production Department to ensure production rooms, equipment and work areas are maintained in accordance with established sanitation procedures and GMP requirements.
- Ensure required cleaning and sanitization activities are completed at the appropriate frequency and to the required standard, including between production runs, at the end of shifts and as otherwise required by SOPs.
- Provide direction and guidance to Production Operators regarding proper cleaning, sanitization, equipment disassembly and reassembly procedures.
- Monitor the completion and quality of sanitation activities and verify that equipment and production areas are appropriately cleaned and ready for use.
- Ensure sanitation activities are completed using the correct cleaning agents, tools, methods and procedures as outlined in applicable SOPs and work instructions.
- Ensure cleaning and sanitization records, checklists and other required documentation are completed accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine visual and swabbing inspections of production rooms, equipment and work areas to identify sanitation deficiencies, residue, product buildup, foreign material, damaged equipment or other conditions that could impact production or product quality.
- Perform environmental monitoring activities of all GMP areas, including sample collection, submission of samples for laboratory testing, review of test results, and maintenance of accurate and compliant records.
- Ensure identified sanitation deficiencies are corrected promptly and, where appropriate, escalate concerns to the Production Manager and Quality personnel.
- Coordinate sanitation activities with production schedules to ensure equipment and production rooms are properly cleaned and available for subsequent production activities.
- Ensure appropriate changeover and line-clearance cleaning activities are completed between different products, lots or production runs in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage the pest control program
- Monitor the availability and appropriate use of sanitation supplies, cleaning tools, PPE and other materials required to maintain Production Department sanitation standards.
- Ensure sanitation tools and equipment are maintained, stored appropriately and kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Assist with training and coaching Production Operators on sanitation procedures, GMP requirements, equipment cleaning and proper documentation practices.
- Reinforce adherence to sanitation SOPs and immediately address observed non-compliance or improper cleaning practices.
- Assist with investigations into sanitation-related issues, deviations, cleaning deficiencies or recurring sanitation concerns and implement corrective actions as directed by Production or Quality personnel.
- Support internal and regulatory audits by ensuring Production sanitation areas, records and practices are maintained in an inspection-ready condition.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality Assurance and Quality Control personnel to maintain appropriate sanitation standards and address sanitation-related concerns.
- Assist with the review and improvement of sanitation practices, procedures and processes to improve efficiency, consistency and compliance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or other GMP-regulated environment, preferably with sanitation experience.
- Post-secondary education in manufacturing, food science, pharmaceutical science, quality or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience supervising, coordinating or leading sanitation activities is an asset.
- Strong understanding of GMP, sanitation, workplace safety and equipment cleaning requirements.
- Ability to develop, update and implement sanitation procedures and processes.
- Strong knowledge of production equipment, cleaning requirements and production changeovers.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to identify sanitation deficiencies and implement or escalate corrective actions.
- Ability to train, coach and provide direction to Production Operators on sanitation procedures and GMP requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate sanitation records, checklists and required documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with Production, QA, QC and Maintenance teams.
- Ability and willingness to perform hands-on sanitation activities, including equipment disassembly, cleaning, sanitization and reassembly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and prioritize sanitation activities around production schedules.
