As a member of the powerhouse, you will be responsible for the safe operation and servicing of all equipment relating to powerhouse and utilities operations, which includes:
- Operating high pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment according to the Pressure Vessels Act and Operating Engineers Regulations
- Operating the water filtration system and treatment plant
- Controlling the operation of the compressed air system and air dryers
- Operating the stand‑by diesel generator
- Guiding activities of maintenance personnel while working on powerhouse equipment
- Maintaining documentation according to the Operating Engineers Regulations
Education and Qualifications
- Ontario Second Class Operating Engineer Certificate
- Five to eight years of previous job experience in an industrial setting
- Detailed knowledge of the Pressure Vessels Act and Operating Engineer Regulations is mandatory
- Good problem solving, communication and critical thinking skills,
and the ability to work in accordance with established procedures and work practices is essential
Assets
- Exposure to predictive maintenance techniques and technologies
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
Site hours of operation require this position to work a 24-hour operation work schedule of 12 hour rotating day and night shifts.
