We are seeking an energetic, patient, and experienced School Support Worker to provide one-on-one support for an engaging, bright Senior Kindergarten (SK) student during the school day. The ideal candidate will help the child navigate the classroom environment, support emotional regulation, manage challenging behaviors, and foster positive peer interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1-on-1 support within the classroom and school workplace to facilitate learning and engagement.
- Implement behavior management strategies and proactive sensory breaks to support self-regulation.
- Prompt positive peer interactions, turn-taking, and social skills during free play and unstructured times (recess, lunch).
- Help redirect attention and manage off-task or challenging behaviors using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Maintain open communication with parents and school staff regarding daily progress.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience working with young children (ages 4–6) exhibiting challenging behaviors, ADHD, or developmental differences.
- Background in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child & Youth Care (CYC), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), or a related field preferred.
- Strong skills in de-escalation, emotional regulation strategies, and positive reinforcement.
- Excellent patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification and recent Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
Commensurate with experience Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
