Assistant Yard Manager - Full Time BarriePosition OverviewUnited Lumber & Building Supplies is seeking an Assistant Yard Manager to support the daily operations of the yard while providing strong leadership to the team.This role is critical in ensuring consistent leadership coverage across all operating hours, supporting staff development, and maintaining a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines management responsibilities with active participation in daily yard operations. The Assistant Yard Manager is expected to lead by example, working alongside employees while supporting customers, managing workflow, overseeing safety, and coaching staff. This position requires an individual who is comfortable balancing leadership duties with physical work in a fast‑paced outdoor environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team SupportProvide hands‑on supervision and direction to yard staff, including part‑time and new employeesEnsure a visible management presence, particularly during evenings and weekendsSupport onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team membersAddress employee questions, concerns, and day‑to‑day issues promptly and professionallyModel and reinforce professional workplace behaviour and expectationsCulture & Workplace ConductPromote a respectful, inclusive, and qualified work environmentActively address and redirect inappropriate behaviour, gossip, or unprofessional conductLead by example in communication, conflict resolution,



and accountabilitySupport company initiatives related to workplace culture and employee engagementOperations & Yard ManagementOversee daily yard operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and safetyCoordinate workflow and staff assignments to meet operational demandsEnsure loads are built accurately and in accordance with company standardsSupport inventory control, organization, and yard housekeepingHealth & SafetyEnforce all health and safety policies and proceduresEnsure proper use of PPE and safe equipment operationIdentify and address hazards proactivelyParticipate in and support safety training and incident reportingSchedule ExpectationsThis position requires flexibility to meet business needs, including:Evenings and weekendsA schedule that supports full operational coverageWorking conditions & Physical RequirementsResponsibilities may include:Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and varying seasonal conditionsOperating forklifts and other material‑handling equipment (training and certification requirements apply)Loading and unloading building materialsAssisting customers with order fulfillment and product selectionLifting, carrying, pushing,
