About the Opportunity

Maple Tree Consulting & Support Services Ltd. is an established and growing organization providing group home operations and family support services throughout the Edmonton region. We are seeking a highly organized, systems-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping functions across a complex multi-entity structure.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys bringing structure, organization, and accountability to financial operations. You will work independently while receiving high-level support and guidance from an experienced CFO in a role that offers strong exposure to operational, intercompany, and property accounting.

What You Will Do

As the Senior Accountant, you will oversee full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping functions across multiple entities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Accounting & Bookkeeping

- Maintain complete and accurate financial records for multiple entities
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities including journal entries and general ledger maintenance
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and issue invoices and track collections
- Reconcile high-volume corporate credit card transactions and expense reporting
- Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting
- Prepare month-end and year-end working papers and reconciliations
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records

Intercompany & Property Accounting

- Manage accounting activities for eight distinct properties owned by intercompany entities
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances
- Oversee accounting related to mortgages, utilities, property taxes, and maintenance expenses




- Coordinate accounting related to property management operations, maintenance billings, and work orders
- Assist with accounting for short-term rental operations and related reporting

Revenue & Government Billings

- Execute government contract billings for family intervention and support services
- Monitor receivables and ensure timely submission of funding invoices and supporting documentation
- Support audit preparation and reporting requirements related to government funding

Payroll & Compliance

- Oversee payroll processing and employee benefits administration
- Ensure accurate and timely CRA remittances, WCB filings, payroll reporting, and statutory compliance
- Assist with T4 preparation and year-end payroll reconciliations
- Support compliance with internal financial controls and reporting standards

Process Management & Operational Support

- Develop and improve accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- Maintain structured workflows and ensure strong organizational practices
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend operational improvements
- Support leadership with reporting, reconciliations, and ad hoc financial analysis

Who You Are Designated or Near-Designated Professional

- CPA designation or actively pursuing designation preferred
- Equivalent practical accounting and bookkeeping experience will also be considered

Detail-Oriented & Systems-Focused

- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills




- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously

- Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision
- Able to adapt quickly within a quick-paced and evolving environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

Strong Communicator

- Able to communicate financial information clearly and professionally
- Proactively identifies issues and collaborates effectively with operational teams and leadership

Technical Requirements

Required

· Extensive hands-on experience with QuickBooks

· Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and reconciliations

· Experience with full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting processes

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools

Considered an Asset

· Experience using Rise HR

· Experience in property accounting and property management operations

· Experience working within multi-entity corporate structures

· Previous experience in nonprofit, social services, healthcare, or community support organizations

Note: Compensation posted is the starting rate.
