About the role The Student Support Officer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the MNO’s Post‑Secondary Education direct funding programs‑ inclusive of the PSE Financial Assistance Program, PSE Travel Support Program, PSE Tutoring Support Program and Student Bursary Program.
The administration of these programs involves ensuring program eligibility, facilitating application processes, student contracting, communication and program compliance.
What you will be doing
Ensure that the goals and objectives of the MNO Education and Training programs deliver post‑secondary education funding programs
Case manage client files effectively, which involves ongoing monitoring of client progress and outcomes
Provide program referrals to meet client needs as required
Follow up with clients after they have completed their programs and offer additional support, if required, to ensure long‑term client success
Liaise with MNO staff, specifically labour market staff, and maintain knowledge of current and expected labour market needs as required
Assist with the planning, promotion and participation in community outreach activities to promote programs and services
Assist in the development of partnerships with indigenous organizations, education and training institutions and other stakeholders
Update the client information system on time
Evaluate the effectiveness of service and program delivery
Organize and facilitate community events to enhance client and community knowledge, improve client access, and provide cultural sensitivity training
Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with others (employees, citizens, council, volunteers, advocates, etc.)
Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within the MNO’s policies and procedures and provincial legislation
Performs other job/branch‑related duties as required
Qualifications
College Diploma (1 or 2 year)
1 to 3 years of experience
Client service experience
Demonstrated social services/community support experience
Experience dealing with confidential information
Experience working in coordinating and delivering community‑based programs or projects
Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold Métis rights and culture
A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
Advanced communications skills
Organization skills and time/priority management
Highly detail-oriented
Demonstrated ability to problem‑solve, demonstrate sound judgement, and make decisions independently within set processes and procedures
Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision
