Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Advisor – Credit Risk to support credit risk analysis, portfolio management, monitoring, reporting, and credit-related process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring robust financial and credit analysis experience, preferably within commodity trading, metals, mining, or a related industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative information on new and existing counterparties and recommend credit ratings, credit limits, payment terms, and credit solutions .
- Manage an assigned counterparty portfolio, including credit reviews, onboarding requests, exposure and limit checks, credit blocks, and credit alerts .
- Assess complex transactions and develop appropriate credit solutions and contractual credit terms.
- Support management of non-payment, default, and other credit-related events.
- Work with Commercial, Sales, Finance, Legal, credit insurers, brokers, and other risk teams to implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Monitor portfolio credit exposure and adverse credit developments and provide early risk alerts.
- Review and report on credit exposure, AR aging, excesses, sales forecasts, and credit limit breaches .
- Prepare credit recommendations, portfolio analytics, reports, and presentations for credit committees and business stakeholders .
- Use credit risk and accounting systems including SAP and S&P; Capital IQ .
- Support or lead credit process standardization, automation, dashboard development, reporting enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives .
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline .
- MBA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent designation is an asset.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Credit Risk, Credit Analysis, or Financial Analysis.
- Experience within commodity trading, metals & mining, or a similar commercial environment strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with portfolio management, financial statement analysis, credit assessment, and credit recommendations .
- Working knowledge of:
- Trade finance solutions
- Trade credit insurance
- Parental/corporate guarantees
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex credit matters with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with SAP and S&P; Capital IQ preferred.
- Power BI and Python experience is an asset.
