Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement,
company policy and/or legislation.WHAT YOU’LL DO:Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director and pathologists, Laboratory Medicine, the Pathologist Assistant (PA) examines and dissects surgical pathology specimens, submits samples for histologic and other examinations, and dictates related gross descriptions. In addition, the PA performs other related duties, as required. The PA is responsible to the Charge Technologist(s) in the area in which they are working and to the Laboratory Manager(s).WHAT YOU’LL BRING:Pathologists’ Assistant Membership with Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP)If Pathologist Assistant membership with CAP received through General Medical Laboratory Technologist training certification by Canadian Society of Laboratory Medical Science (CSMLS) and subsequent training, then must hold current Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)Experience with Front End Voice Recognition systems (Dragon Medical preferred)Previous extensive experience in pathology including surgical pathology procedures preferredRecent Hospital experience preferredWHO YOU ARE:Demonstrated ability to performs tasks to meet the turnaround time and accuracy requirements of the departmentDemonstrates ability to organize and plan effectively; is meticulous in performing tasksHas thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and general knowledge of medical disease processesDemonstrated dexterity, e.g. dissection complex specimens while maintaining personal safety and safety of othersComputer skills are essential - knowledge of EPIC and Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word and ExcelDemonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients, physicians,
