Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking a Sr. Manager, Finance and Accounting to work under the direction of the Adams Lake Band’s Chief Financial Officer. The individual's main responsibility is to provide leadership and oversight of the Band’s financial operations, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and performance of all accounting functions.

This role oversees financial reporting, audits, payroll, cash management, internal controls, and compliance with the Financial Administration Law, Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and applicable requirements of related entities. As a senior advisor and trusted partner to leadership, the position ensures financial systems, policies, and processes effectively support program delivery, regulatory compliance, and informed decision‑making. This position will join a professional team including staff working towards their CPA and there will be times additional training or mentorship may be requested.

Manager is responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting to Chief and Council, management, funders, and regulators, maintaining year‑round audit readiness, leading and developing the Finance team, managing external financial service providers, and collaborating across the organization to promote sound financial stewardship and operational efficiency. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in compliance with PSAS and the Financial Administration Law. Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and year‑round audit readiness.

Oversee general ledger, AR, AP, capital and tax by‑law accounting, including fixed asset continuity. Prepare financial content for the annual report. Assist with budget preparation for Band operations, programs and related entities.





Compliance, Internal Controls & Audit Ensure compliance with accounting standards, Financial Administration Law, and regulatory requirements. Lead yearend and interim audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors. Implement and monitor internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.

Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and safeguard the integrity and security of financial records. Treasury, Risk & Financial Sustainability Manage cash controls for general and restricted accounts, including cash flow forecasting and liquidity monitoring. Oversee banking relationships, financial agreements, and financial risk management.

Financial

Systems, Procurement & Contract Management Oversee procurement policies, processes, and financial commitments; Support funding, regulatory, and agency reporting requirements. Manage financial services contracts, including ERP, audit, and banking services. Prepare and present financial reports, including confidential reports, to senior management, CFO, and Chief and Council as required.

Participate in operational and management teams to support cross‑departmental planning and budgeting. Develop and implement finance policies and provide strategic and operational financial advice. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field and professional designation CPA (Canada) in valuable standing.





Deep technical knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, with demonstrated expertise in the practical management of a disbursed Finance team. Minimum of five (5) years accounting experience at a senior level, preferably within a Band/Business environment, with an appreciation of First Nations values. Proven in driving process improvements, efficiencies, and best practices.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, Adagio, Sage 300 or similar ERPs. Able to read, interpret and comply with laws, regulations and other legal documents pertaining to the Band. Supervise 4-5 staff members within the Finance department.

Those normally associated with a typical office environment. Continuous visual concentration on computer/laptop and/or calculator. Those typically associated within an Office environment. EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE Office – Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel Accounting – Adagio, UKG Payroll Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License Current Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB.

Full time permanent position Extended Health Care/Dental and Vision from first day of active employment.

Location: this position is expected to primarily work in office on site; Hours per week: 75 hours bi-weekly (max 37.5 hrs./We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous defined and matched contribution pension scheme, health, vision, and dental coverage, LTD, AD&D;, and life insurance and an employee assistance program.
