CBC News is looking for a Senior Finance Manager who is a transformational leader to join our CBC Network News Finance team at the Toronto Broadcast Centre. We are a 24-7 breaking news organization, with reach across television, radio, online, and mobile platforms. Reporting to the Director of Finance for CBC News this position will be responsible for handling all transformation initiatives and financial aspects (budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting) for News Operations and other related groups.

This role will be a key member of the CBC News Finance team and will involve FP&A;, financial and management reporting, partnering directly with leaders across the News division to foster accountability and transparency of financial results. Oversee financial planning, budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and business reporting in collaboration with management and other operational personnel.



Drive on-going analysis, evaluation, advice and guidance on projects and departmental expenditures, future planning, and effective utilization of workforce.

Support resource management projects to identify opportunities to leverage systems and workflow to improve planning and management reporting. Partner with News Operations leaders to redesign the labour costing and recovery model to support News structure and strategy. Serve as subject matter expert for internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate application and adherence to collective agreements, financial policies, corporate guidelines, and procedures.

Present results to senior management. Build and focus strategies for CBC News Finance function that compliment and expand broader CBC Finance strategy. Lead and promote transformation initiatives Negotiates with managers to meet both their needs and management accounting objectives.

Qualified accounting designation such as CPA is required. Ability and skills to make recommendations and provide analytical insight and interpretation of complex financial data to senior management in a clear and concise manner.

Superior

Excel skills and experience working with Oracle and Workday is an asset. Good leadership qualities and be capable of working with various levels of management and in situations either as a team leader or team member. Ability to deal with several, sometimes conflicting priorities under pressure in order to meet deadlines and meet multiple urgent demands within tight timeframes.
