Who you are

- Significant experience as a digital product designer, leading the design of a range of digital products

- Ability to give clear, actionable feedback and adapt your own approach in response to feedback from others
- Proactively takes on current challenges and is comfortable exploring new techniques and ways of working
- A supportive and collaborative team member, who takes ownership of delivering all design elements efficiently and on time
- Communicates openly and articulates ideas clearly and simply, both visually and verbally
- Collaborates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and disciplines, facilitating workshops, prototyping ideas and contributing to planning
- Leads participatory design sessions with users, embedding co-design principles into their practice
What the job involves
- FTC for 11 months
- Basis: Permanent; full time, part-time or flexible
- We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave for 11 months. You'll design accessible, easy-to-use digital products across a range of platforms, applying UX and design best practice to deliver new features and improvements across our product portfolio
- Reporting to the Product Design Lead, you'll work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team of Product Designers, User Experience Researchers, Content Designers, Product Managers, Software Engineers and Learning Managers to create digital products that support learners and educators around the world
- You'll join an agile product team that works in Cambridge and remotely across the UK. We use tools such as monday.com, GitHub Projects, Figma and Slack to collaborate effectively

- Lead the user-centred design process from discovery to delivery, collaborating with a cross-disciplinary product team to create meaningful, engaging and delightful user experiences
- Work closely with user researchers to develop a deep understanding of users' needs and motivations, using these insights to inform design decisions
- Contribute to product strategy and planning alongside product and engineering leads, bringing user insights and facilitating design thinking workshops to align on goals
- Test designs regularly with users and iterate based on feedback, keeping user needs at the centre of the design process
- Clearly communicate and confidently present ideas, user flows, designs, prototypes and other assets to tell compelling stories and solve a diverse range of user needs
- Actively contribute to the evolution and maintenance of our design system, championing its value and encouraging consistent adoption across teams
- Advocate for accessibility and use the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code to design products that are accessible, appropriate and safe for young people and volunteers
- Inspire others through curiosity, mentoring teammates and bringing fresh perspectives to strengthen our design practice
- Build strong relationships, facilitate workshops and events with partners, our users and agencies, championing design and user experience
The application process

- As part of your application, you will be asked to respond to a small number of questions that we will use to screen your eligibility for the role. You will also be asked to provide your CV

- A small number of candidates will be invited to a phone call with the hiring manager
- The purpose of this call is to check our understanding of your application and to answer any questions you have
- We normally have two interviews, which will be with the hiring manager and at least one other colleague
- You will usually be asked to undertake a work-based assessment in advance of your interviews. This will be an opportunity for you to show how you would perform some part of the role. You will be given advance notice and clear instructions
