Job Summary

The Team The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services Prince George Clinic team is a group of experienced professionals, including administrative staff and clinicians. This established team is part of a larger provincial service and collaborates with social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and contractors to provide direct client care. We value the supportive culture within our team, making a significant impact on the mental health and well‑being of youth in our community. The Role The Psychiatric Social Worker plays a key role in a team that supports young people in the justice system. They provide mental health assessments and treatment services, including individual, group, and family counseling. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the objective is to jointly enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging youth through a closer to home focus. This work is critical in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion by addressing the unique needs of each young person.

Qualifications:Education and Experience Requirements

Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.

NOTE:





Successful MSW prepared candidates are required to seek and obtain clinical registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW), within 6 months of having completed the required 3000 hours of supervised clinical practice.

NOTE:

If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES ). You must provide a basic report prior to hire date to be considered.

Minimum of one (1) year of relevant clinical experience working within an adolescent mental health environment and providing a wide range of outpatient-oriented assessment and treatment services.

Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

Two (2) years or more relevant clinical experience working within an adolescent mental health workplace and providing a wide range of outpatient-oriented assessment and treatment services.

Recent experience working in a forensic setting or with a forensic population.

About this Position: Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
