Position Summary
Type: Full Time

Position: HR Business Partner

Location: Fort McKay Head Office

Schedule: 40 Hours per week. Monday to Thursday (Alternating Friday) - Hybrid Working Schedule (In-Person & Remote)

This is a local position. Applicant must reside in the Fort McMurray Region or be willing to relocate at your own cost.

Role Summary
We are seeking a self-motivated HR Business Partner (HRBP) with a high degree of analytical skills coupled with HR Generalist capabilities to join the Human Resources Team.

The HRBP provides professional generalist advice and support to all facets of the business with a primary focus on employee relations, performance management, succession planning, job evaluation and organizational design.



The HRBP will sometimes be called upon to support Recruitment in the areas of selection, classification, and compensation. The successful candidate will be required to have strong knowledge on Employment Standards Legislation and Human Rights.

The HRBP will have working knowledge and the ability to enter and extract data using the HRIS systems. The HRBP will prepare reporting on employee demographics, trends, and projections to senior management.

While the role is locally based out of our Fort McKay office, there will be requirement to travel to our site locations in order to liaise, build relationships and conduct business with your assigned teams. Flexibility, adaptability and enjoyment of a fast-paced work setting will be key to success in this HRBP role.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide expert guidance and support on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation

Coach leaders on employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and change management

Participate in the development and implementation of HR programs, policies, processes, and initiatives

Manage complex employee relations issues and lead workplace investigations

Provide disability management support, including case management for medical leaves and long-term disability claims

Prepare, review, interpret, and analyze data and reports; provide insights and recommendations based on findings





Utilize HRIS systems to input, extract, and analyze data effectively

Support the development of Apprenticeship and Indigenous Life Cycle Programs

Plan and coordinate logistics for the annual employee service awards program

Recommend improvements to compensation structures, job evaluation processes, and organizational design

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Human Resources (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a Business Partner or Generalist role

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications

Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels

Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices

Experience with disability management

Proven ability to manage complex investigations and sensitive employee matters

Strong judgment, adaptability, and problem‑solving skills in changing environments

Ability to research, evaluate, and analyze trends, policies, processes, and procedures

Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills

Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Ability to work independently across a broad range of projects

High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion

Experience in a fast‑paced, operational, industrial, or multi‑site environment is considered an asset

Fluency in English (spoken and written)
