Overview
Reliable Fire & Safety Ltd. is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Service Technician to join our growing team. Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly, annual, and scheduled inspections in accordance with the BC Fire Code and applicable CAN/ULC, NFPA, and CSA standards.
- Perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of fire and life safety systems.
- Inspect and service a broad range of fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, fire sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and backflow prevention devices.
- Identify deficiencies and provide clear recommendations and solutions to clients.
- Complete electronic inspection reports, service reports, deficiency reports, and related documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain open communication with management regarding inspections, repairs, deficiencies, and project status.
- Participate in the company's after-hours emergency on-call rotation.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry codes, standards, products, and best practices.
- Maintain ASTTBC certifications in good standing.
- Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
- Deliver a professional and positive customer experience during all client interactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- ASTTBC Registered Fire Protection Technician (RFPT) designation.
- 3+ years of experience in fire alarm inspections, testing, service, and repairs.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm and life safety systems effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
PREFERRED:
- BCWWA Backflow Tester Certification
- Confined Spaces Certification
- Aerial Platform Certification
- 5+ years of fire protection inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, multi-residential, and institutional buildings.
- Experience working with various fire alarm manufacturers and systems.
Technology Requirements:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and mobile field reporting software.
- Experience with electronic inspection and reporting systems is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Climb ladders and work at heights.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Perform tasks requiring standing, walking, crouching, and reaching for extended periods.
