About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer / Technical Project Lead to join our technical team.

This is first and foremost a senior hands-on technical role. You will act as a senior escalation resource while also leading client infrastructure, cloud, networking, Microsoft 365, and cybersecurity projects.

You will take ownership of complex technical issues, lead projects from planning through completion, provide technical direction to other technicians, and help identify opportunities to improve client environments.

This is not a dedicated project management, vCIO, or sales position. We are looking for a robust senior technician who wants to remain hands-on while taking greater responsibility for projects, solution design, technical standards, and client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as a senior escalation resource for complex technical, infrastructure, networking, cloud, and security issues.
- Independently troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, networking, virtualization, backup, and cybersecurity technologies.
- Lead infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud, networking, security, and modernization projects from discovery through completion.
- Plan project requirements, timelines, technical tasks, testing, documentation, and rollback procedures.
- Coordinate and provide technical direction to technicians assisting with project work.
- Review project work for quality and technical accuracy while remaining accountable for the overall outcome.
- Perform server, Microsoft 365, cloud, network, firewall, virtualization, and backup migrations and implementations.




- Identify infrastructure risks, security gaps, aging technology, performance concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with technical discovery, solution design, project scoping, and client recommendations.
- Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians and provide knowledge transfer following complex issues and projects.
- Maintain strong technical documentation and contribute to Haycor’s standards, processes, and best practices.

Technical Experience We are looking for strong hands-on experience with:

- Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, Teams, and SharePoint
- Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
- Firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless networks
- Microsoft Hyper-V and/or VMware
- Backup and disaster recovery technologies
- Endpoint security, MFA, Conditional Access, email security, and security hardening
- Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services is a strong asset

Experience with SonicWall, ThreatLocker, Datto BCDR, Autotask, Datto RMM, IT Glue, Auvik, or comparable MSP platforms is considered an asset.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of progressively senior IT infrastructure experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
- Demonstrated Tier 3 troubleshooting experience.
- Proven experience independently leading technical projects.
- Strong Microsoft cloud, infrastructure, networking, and firewall experience.
- Strong understanding of virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity.
- Previous MSP or managed services experience strongly preferred.
- Strong documentation, communication, and client-facing skills.




- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to client sites when required.

Relevant Microsoft, Azure, networking, cybersecurity, VMware, or project management certifications are considered assets, but practical experience will be weighted heavily.
