Help shape the future of enterprise network security!
Bring your technical expertise to the Infrastructure Technology Services (ITS) Division where you can recommend and implement network firewall management platforms, tools and options to enhance network operations in a mission-critical, multi platform and multi protocol environment. You'll provide specialized technical leadership, support complex firewall projects, and help maintain the performance and security of critical government technology services.
About the job
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical leadership and coordination for network firewall management, administration configuration and maintenance.
- Deliver ongoing client service and support for stakeholder relations.
- Oversee the ongoing day-to-day change in firewall configuration and maintenance activity and provide Tier 3 client service for firewall related activities.
- Offer specialized technical expertise and make recommendations for improvements to sustain a smooth network firewall environment.
- Provide leadership in planning resources, coordinating, evaluating and reporting on specialized technical aspects of multiple concurrent or sequential projects.
- Provide specialized technical mentoring for network administration staff.
- Perform project, operational and service administration activities (e.g. scheduling and assigning work, monitoring costs).
What you bring to the team
Technical Skills:
You have:
- experience in a Tier-3 firewall operational role to recommend, configure, implement and troubleshoot advanced physical and logical network firewall platforms
- expert knowledge of current network security systems design and architecture techniques, standards and best practices for firewall maintenance and administration in support of multi-tiered application environments
- knowledge of system/server operations, development and related technologies
- the ability to apply root cause analysis skills to develop and provide senior-level leadership with solutions
Leadership and Project Management Skills:
You have:
- team leadership skills to balance competing needs against available resources within cross-functional technical teams
- knowledge of effective technical change management
- knowledge of client needs and the business setting to define the technical scope of work, develop request for proposal (RFP) specifications and assist in negotiating service level agreements
- experience planning and coordinating plans, schedules, and activities of multiple concurrent or sequential projects
- experience providing technical guidance,
instruction, monitoring progress, problem-solving, and reporting to management with recommendations
Customer Service and Relationship Management:
You have:
- the ability to provide ongoing client service regarding operational, technical, and service aspects of stakeholder relations
- experience managing problems effectively while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders
- experience developing and encouraging teamwork, positive morale, and high performance within cross-functional teams
- experience managing relationships and providing appropriate support to a variety of stakeholders and/or clients
Research and Analytical Skills:
You have:
- proven analytical skills to identify, isolate and resolve complex multi-platform firewall operational issues
- the ability to provide expertise for developing functional firewall security solutions and provide management with recommendations and proposals regarding continuous improvement of operational firewall services
- strong planning and assessment skills to ensure that firewall and network operations and services are scheduled, monitored and evaluated
- strong judgement to make timely and appropriately researched and evaluated recommendations
Communication Skills:
You have:
- experience writing, explaining, and presenting complex technical reports and recommendations for diverse audiences
- experience instructing vendors and providing draft procedures
- written communication skills to develop operational documents, reports and training materials
