Proxxi Technology Corporation builds wearable electrical hazard alerting devices that protect industrial workers. Our flagship product, Proxxi Voltage, is a wrist-worn device distributed worldwide to major utilities and industrial companies. When you ship work here, it ends up on the wrists of people doing some of the world's most dangerous jobs.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're hiring a Mechanical Engineer to own all mechanical aspects of every Proxxi product, current and future. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role: you'll be our only full‑time ME, responsible for everything from enclosure detailing and DFM through injection mold tooling, assembly process design, and manufacturing engineering.

You won't be working in isolation. Our CTO (EE lead) and Head of Manufacturing both have hands in mechanical work and will be your closest collaborators. You'll also work with an external ID contractor to translate the industrial design concept into production‑ready mechanical designs. The ME function is yours to own, fully.

Expect to be in our Gastown office most days. The physical nature of the work (prototypes, builds, test rigs, CM coordination) rewards being there in person. This is not a role for someone who needs direction.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Translate ID concept into production‑ready CAD: parting lines, draft angles, wall thickness, rib and boss design, snap fits

Tolerance stack‑up analysis across the full device assembly

IP67 waterproofing systems (gaskets, O‑rings, adhesive bonding, ultrasonic welding)

Integration of acoustic components, optical components, and user‑interface mechanisms (buttons, band attachment) into sealed enclosures

Accessory and charger mechanical systems: alignment, retention, cable management

Mechanical design for future products

Tooling & manufacturing

Mold tool drawings for all injection‑molded parts: gate location, ejector layout, cooling channels, cosmetic finishing specs

DFM review, GD&T;, assembly sequence definition, and error‑proofing

Jig and fixture design for assembly, testing, and QC

Manufacturing process design and yield improvement

Mold maintenance and tool‑life management

NPI support at our contract manufacturer: EVT and DVT builds, FAI, and yield ramp

Test, quality & workshop

Define and execute the mechanical test plan: drop, vibration, IP67 water ingress, UV, chemical resistance, abrasion

Mechanical quality standards and IQC/OQC criteria

FMEA maintenance from field return data

Prototyping workshop setup and ongoing management: 3D printers, CNC, hand tools, secure and well‑organized workspaces

WHAT YOU BRING

BSME or equivalent (MSME preferred but not required for strong candidates)

7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in consumer electronics or wearable device development

You've taken injection‑molded products from design through tooling to mass production: not just designed parts, but owned the tooling process

NPI (New Product Introduction)

experience at contract manufacturers: pilot builds, first article inspection, process validation, and the transition to mass production

Strong proficiency in Fusion 360 or SolidWorks (we primarily use Fusion, but we'll work with you on the decision if you prefer SolidWorks)

Deep DFM skills: injection molding, assembly design, tolerance analysis, GD&T;

Hands‑on waterproofing experience for IP67 or IP68 products

Comfort working with North American (Canada, US, Mexico) and Asia‑based contract manufacturers

Self‑directed and curious. You spot what needs doing, dig into what you don’t yet know, and prefer making over meeting

BONUS POINTS

Wrist‑worn or watch‑form‑factor devices specifically

Flex PCB integration within enclosures

Injection mold tool design knowledge (not just DFM)

FEA experience

Acoustic component integration in sealed enclosures

FMEA, SPC, and formal quality methodology

Magnetic alignment or retention mechanism design

Softgoods design (silicone, TPU, or textile watch bands)

Overmolding and two‑shot molding (soft‑touch grips, sealed buttons, bumpers)

Background in industrial or safety product development (PPE, hazard detection)

Prototyping shop setup and management

WHAT WE OFFER

CA$110,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience

Stock options in Proxxi Technology Corporation

Fusion 360 and SolidWorks licenses, 3D printer access, and prototyping tools provided

Travel to contract manufacturers covered

Hybrid schedule based in our Gastown office, with flexibility based on program phase
