A Personal Trainer at the Richmond Olympic Oval (“Oval”) is responsible for designing and delivering personalized fitness programs that support clients in achieving their health and wellness goals. This role requires a strong understanding of exercise science, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing safe, effective, and motivating training sessions for individuals and small groups. Personal Trainers work closely with clients to assess their fitness levels, develop customized programs, track progress, and foster a supportive environment that inspires lasting results.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct initial consultations, fitness assessments, and goal-setting sessions with clients.
- Design customized training programs based on individual fitness levels, goals, and needs.
- Deliver safe, effective, and engaging one‑on‑one and small group training sessions.
- Monitor client progress and adjust programs to ensure continued development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessments, waivers, and training logs.
- Communicate with clients in a timely, professional, and motivating manner.
- Actively promote other fitness programs and services offered within the facility.
- Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and continuing education.
- Maintain knowledge of new training techniques, technology, and equipment.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including confidentiality and code of conduct.
- Provide first‑aid treatment as required and coordinate care for injuries needing escalation.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Current Training Certification from a recognized body such as NASM, ACE, NSCA, CSEP, or a certified Pilates qualification from a recognized Pilates organization (e.g., STOTT, BASI, or similar).
- University degree in Kinesiology or Physical Education (or equivalent).




- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate from a recognized provider, with CPR‑C and AED Certification.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in personal training or fitness instruction.
- Demonstrated history of continuing education.
- Successful completion of Criminal Record Check.

Skills and Abilities

- Robust understanding of exercise science, biomechanics, and program design.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, energetic, organized, and responsible.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and retain client relationships.
- Ability to perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, client tracking, and maintaining correspondence.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation range

Individual: $37.45-$45.45 per hour, Partner/Group: $49.47-$60.15 per hour as per the Collective Agreement, plus 12% in lieu of benefits (hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience)

Availability: Shifts vary but will include mornings, evenings and weekends
