Dining Room Server – Owen Sound Gardens
Employment Status: Part -time
Qualifications:
Experience
Responsible, and willing to learn, with a pleasant, outgoing personality. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Individuals must be able to follow written and oral instructions in English as well as speak and write in English. An understanding of food service and preparation with a Food Handlers Certificate is an asset. Smart Serve will be a requirement. Retirement Home or Hotel experience is also an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Key Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Dining Services Manager, responsible for duties as outlined below:
- Serving Meals to residents and guests in the dining room
- Plate desserts and salads as necessary
- Assisting with the preparation of serving of resident and guest meals
- Loads, operates and empties dishwashers and puts dishes away
- Assists in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies
- Sets dining room tables and clears the dining room of dishes and utensils during and after meals
- Always assist in keeping dining room neat and inviting for residents & guests
- Cleaning dietary equipment and working areas
- Understand and adhere to regulations pertaining to Food Handling, Sanitation & Safety
- Adhere to Public Health standards
- Operation of equipment as required in preparation for service of meals
- Effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers, residents, and guests
- Participates in staff meetings and in-service training within the home as required
- Complies with infection control protocols as directed
- Complies with corporate policies and procedures
- Completes TLC online training and all other training as required
- Complies with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System including recognizing health & safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation as well as participating in fire drills and other emergency procedure training.

Physical Requirements:
- Lifting alone, maximum 50lbs (5-25 lbs) as a major job function.
- Lifting with assistance maximum 80–100 lbs as a minor job function.
- Pushing/pulling, using wheeled equipment such as carts, trolleys with contents that weigh a maximum 100 lbs (20-50 lbs) as a major job function.
- Stretching/reaching on a regular frequency throughout the shift, as a major job function.
- Standing with intermittent walking for the majority of shift, up to 8 hours maximum, as a major job function.
- Bending/stooping with regular frequency throughout the shift, as a minor job function.
- Crouching/kneeling for short periods of time as a minor job function.
- Carries and transports objects of various sizes, to a maximum of 25 lbs. (5-15 lbs) as a major job function
