Location: St. Joseph’s Hospital Main & Children’s – Tampa, FL

Facility: BayCare Health System, Proton Center – SJH

Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Day Shift; Varies)

Schedule: Full-Time | Occasional Weekends | On-Call

Status: Non-Exempt

Role Overview
As a Radiation Therapist – Proton, you will deliver highly precise radiation treatments—including proton, photon, and electron therapy—to support exceptional oncology care. You’ll collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, maintain rigorous accuracy in treatment delivery, and ensure patient safety through exceptional attention to detail.

Success in this role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a strong team-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in developing proton, photon, electron, and other radiation therapy treatment plans

Administer ionizing radiation treatments as prescribed

Follow all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Prepare treatment rooms and explain procedures to patients

Monitor therapy sessions for alignment, treatment accuracy, and patient condition

Perform CT simulations and fabricate immobilization devices





Conduct staging procedures in dedicated immobilization rooms

Utilize kV, CBCT, and surface/image guided positioning systems

Adjust to shifting work needs due to single-room proton operations

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

State of Florida Radiation Therapy License

ARRT Registration & Certification (Radiologic Technologist)

RTT Certification from an accredited radiation therapy program

BLS Certification

Education

Have completed an accredited Radiation Therapy educational program

Hold the educational requirements needed for ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy (Typically includes successful completion of a JRCERT-accredited Radiation Therapy program)

Experience

Required: At least 1 year in Radiation Oncology

Exceptional accuracy in patient positioning techniques (critical for proton therapy)

Preferred: 3 years of related experience

Preferred: Proton therapy experience

Preferred: Bilingual
