The function of the Service Technician is to provide post-sales support on all manufacturers’ products that we represent in our market.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Perform equipment start-ups as required.
Perform commissioning of equipment as required.
Complete
Start-up reports for equipment start-ups and submit to Sales Representative responsible for project.
Utilize the program “Jobber” to generate reports and invoices Generate reports for all equipment worked on. Send reports to salespeople so they can add information to the project files and pass information onto the customer. Generate invoices for divisions, other offices or external customers.
Perform owner training for equipment sold as required. Assist the sales office with equipment troubleshooting. Proactively self-educate through reading and asking questions. Attend supplier supported training when required.
This could be in-house or at the suppliers’ facilities. There may be limited travel involved.
Maintain a calendar of scheduled work using Outlook which will be shared with the Sales office Attend all office meetings
Attend weekly Service Division meetings to discuss past, current and future service work. Identify sales opportunities on projects while performing service work. Once identified bring back to sales team for them to follow up on. Customer service and people management skills are very key in this role. Perform other duties assigned by your manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Service Technician is responsible for ensuring that: All the duties of the position are completed as per the Assisting Sales Team on an as needed basis REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Service Techs report to the Branch Manager, Division Manager or the Regional Vice President QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of five years of experience as and HVAC technician. Training qualifications are an asset (A ticket gas technician or Refrigeration Journeyman Mechanic or both would be preferred)
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Internet Explorer Understanding of how to troubleshoot HVAC equipment Understanding of how to read & interpret wiring diagrams and sequences of operation Positive attitude, exemplary attendance, and reliable team member
Working Hours 8:00 am – 4:30 pm What Success Looks Like Delivering exceptional technical support – successfully completing equipment start-ups, commissioning, troubleshooting, and owner training activities while ensuring equipment performs as designed and customer expectations are met. Providing outstanding customer service – building trusted relationships with customers through professionalism, responsiveness, clear communication, and a commitment to resolving issues effectively and efficiently. Ensuring accurate and timely documentation – consistently completing service reports, start-up documentation, invoices, and project information accurately and promptly to support customers, sales teams, and internal operations.
Supporting sales and project teams – serving as a reliable technical resource, assisting with equipment troubleshooting, identifying opportunities for additional products or services, and collaborating closely with sales representatives to support successful project outcomes. Maintaining strong technical expertise – continuously expanding product and industry knowledge through self-directed learning, manufacturer training, and hands-on field experience to provide expert support across all represented product lines
Managing service work effectively – maintaining an organized schedule, communicating priorities proactively, and completing assigned service activities safely, efficiently, and with a high degree of accountability. Demonstrating reliability and teamwork – actively contributing to team meetings, supporting colleagues when needed, and consistently demonstrating a positive attitude, strong attendance, and a commitment to shared success.
