POSITION OVERVIEW
Startec Refrigeration Service is currently recruiting for a Journeyperson Commercial Refrigeration/HVAC Mechanic to work at our Edmonton Alberta location (4403 68 Ave, Edmonton AB). This role offers the opportunity to further develop expertise in refrigeration system service, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance while contributing to a team-oriented, safety-focused environment. Rates are determined based on experience and tenure. The pay range for Journeypersons is $53.89 to $59.17 per hour (depending on years of experience and supplemental rates/premiums). Dual ticket premiums will also apply.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE & OPERATIONAL DUTIES (Weighting 60%)
Installation of welded, threaded, and/or brazed refrigeration piping systems
Conduct start-ups, inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance for refrigeration/HVAC systems, resolving system issues as needed
Complete regulatory paperwork regarding refrigerant release, ABSA, CFIA, etc
Problem Resolution
Troubleshoot refrigeration/HVAC electrical control systems and perform necessary repairs
Perform all work in compliance with the Quality Control and Health & Safety program
Take on additional duties as required to support job functions

Ensure accurate and timely completion of paperwork and reports to facilitate prompt invoicing and support customer and company needs

Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Journeyman certification or equivalent in HVAC refrigeration mechanics
Basic computer skills required (MS Office Applications)
Class A Gas Fitting, Electrician/Sheetmetal, and/or Hydronic experience is an asset
Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team
Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training
Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver's Abstract
Ability to work independently and on-call
Ability to work out of town. Travel and overnight stays may be required from time to time
