The Opportunity
A Logistics & Commercial Manager (LCM) maintains strong business relationships with Maersk’s Strategic Accounts and drives year‑over‑year growth across the Maersk product and services portfolio. The LCM offers transportation and logistics solutions that add value to the client’s business while managing expectations and delivering positive outcomes for Maersk.
Key Responsibilities
Year‑over‑year portfolio growth
Management of client’s strategic initiatives
Primary contact for all levels of the client organization
Sales of integrated logistics services, including Supply Chain Management & Value Added services, Ocean freight, FCL & LCL, Domestic Ground Freight, Airfreight, Transload/Warehousing, and Customs Brokerage
Monitor profitability and manage contract renewal negotiations
Act as liaison between customer and origin, resolving escalations (primarily with Program Manager)
Problem solving and issue resolution, including large and complex cases
Use of sales systems and technology platforms
Special account handling when needed
Travel with client when mutually beneficial
Manage influence over resources that do not report to this position (e.g., Program Manager, Logistics Specialist,
Customer Service teams)
Facilitate synergy between all operating systems, finance and business development groups within Maersk
Handle multiple accounts or act as a sales specialist for the Maersk sales organization
Comply with all federal, provincial and local legal requirements
Maintain technical and professional proficiency through ongoing education and review of professional publications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Industry diplomas or certificates (e.g., CIFFA or CITT) preferred but not required
Minimum five (5) years of experience in international freight forwarding, supply chain/logistics or shipping industries
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, detail‑oriented and organizational skills
Advanced computer literacy and efficient use of standard office equipment
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; team player who can work under pressure
Guiding staff and providing coaching and mentorship
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Technical Skills And Competencies
Decision making in absence of direct management
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Strong problem‑solving capabilities and a well‑organized, self‑directed approach
Ability to train, coach, evaluate and mentor staff
Current knowledge of technology platforms and rapid adaptation to new software
