Settlement Worker (Summerside Office)

Full Time Position with Salary Range starting at $23.14 per hour, 37.5 hours per week**

Charlottetown, PE

Immigrant & Refugee Services Association PEI (IRSA), a not-for-profit settlement support organization, is seeking a Settlement Worker in our Summerside office, to join us on our mission of building a welcoming and inclusive province by bringing diverse groups together and empowering newcomers to build a future in PEI.

How You’ll Spend Your Time As a Settlement Worker (Summerside Office), your will be providing settlement and local integration supports to newcomer immigrant clients arriving in Canada. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to provide support and education for newcomers in relation to their settlement, health & wellness, family, housing, access to relevant programming and support services with the goal of their successful integration into the local community.

You will meet regularly with your clients, in person and virtually,



ensuring they have the crucial information they need to navigate their new place of residence. Your role is essential in supporting their understanding of their new community, and how to access the supports and services available to them (IE: Public Transit, Groceries, etc.).

You are adaptable, open to change and a solid client advocate. We are here to support, while ensuring everyone feels empowered throughout by providing the tools and resources needed to navigate the path forward.

Some of the standard daily work you will do involves, 1 on 1 Client Meetings, Phone/Computer Usage, Group Information sessions or presentations, Data Entry, Case Work & Follow Ups, and reporting.

This role collaborates across departments to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote IRSA’s vision, mission and core values.

What Skills or Qualification will help me succeed?

Case work requires patience, empathy, cultural competence, excellent communication, digital skills, networking, language skills.

Having a valid provincial driver license with access to reliable transportation would be considered a key role requirement.

The following list of skills would also be considered assets:





- You have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Sciences or a related discipline, with a minimum of 1-year experience in role (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience)
- Previous experience in education, orientation or skills development would be considered an asset.
- A strong understanding of our local community and support networks would be considered an asset.
- Proven ability to identify and navigate service gaps and manage case loads with competing priorities.
- Solid project management, presentation & public speaking skills
- Previous experience working in non-profit organization and/or non-government organization.
