Shift Supervisor

Overview:

OPA! is a Quick Service/Fast Casual Restaurant and has become famous for its delicious tasting Greek food. OPA! is the market leader in the high-growth and healthy Mediterranean category and has grown to become Canada’s largest Greek food franchise, with more than 120 franchised locations.

We are seeking an energetic and dependable Shift Supervisor to support the successful day-to-day operation of our restaurant. The Shift Supervisor is a hands-on leadership position responsible for leading the team and overseeing restaurant operations during assigned shifts while actively participating in food preparation, guest service and restaurant cleanliness.

Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, the Shift Supervisor ensures OPA! brand standards, food quality, food safety, service speed and hospitality expectations are consistently delivered. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working alongside a team while developing their leadership skills in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Shift Leadership: Lead restaurant operations during assigned shifts, including coordinating team members, assigning positions and tasks, managing breaks and ensuring smooth front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations.
- Guest Experience: Lead by example in providing friendly, efficient and accurate service. Address guest questions or concerns during the shift and escalate significant issues to the Restaurant Manager when appropriate.
- Food Quality & Brand Standards: Ensure all food is prepared, portioned and presented according to OPA! recipes, procedures and brand standards. Monitor product quality, freshness and availability throughout the shift.
- Food Safety & Cleanliness: Ensure food handling, sanitation, temperature controls,



cleaning procedures and workplace safety requirements are consistently followed by all team members.
- Team Support & Coaching: Provide direction, coaching and support to team members during the shift. Assist with training new employees and reinforce restaurant procedures, service expectations and brand standards.
- Operational Execution: Monitor service flow and proactively adjust team deployment to maintain service speed, order accuracy, food quality and an excellent guest experience during peak and non-peak periods.
- Cash Handling: Follow and reinforce proper POS and cash-handling procedures, including cash reconciliation and opening or closing responsibilities as assigned.
- Opening & Closing: Complete assigned opening and closing procedures, ensuring the restaurant is clean, stocked, secure and prepared for the next period of operation.
- Inventory & Waste Control: Monitor product levels during the shift, communicate inventory needs to management and help minimize food waste through proper preparation, portion control and product rotation.
- Communication: Communicate operational issues, guest concerns, staffing challenges, equipment issues and other important shift information to the Restaurant Manager.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in a quick-service, rapid-casual, restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.




- Ability to lead by example and provide clear direction to team members.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling is preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation and food safety practices.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during busy service periods.
- Reliable, dependable and able to work independently when required.
- Food Safety Certification is preferred or must be obtained as required.

- Ability to perform all essential front-line restaurant duties, including food preparation, customer service, cleaning and cash handling.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.

- Standing and walking for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching and movement throughout the restaurant.
- Ability to perform all essential front-line restaurant duties, including food preparation, customer service, cleaning and cash handling.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.

Pay: $17.00-$18.50 per hour
