Lead Oracle DB patching efforts as a specialized SME at Cognizant during Canada business hours. Oversee vital quarterly PSU/RU and CPU patch cycles across 20,700+ Oracle instances.
As the Oracle DB Patching Tower Lead, you will serve as the primary interface for client DBA L2/L3 and application owners. Your role demands deep expertise in Oracle DBA patching, governance, and cross-team coordination. You will also manage quarterly patch schedules, applying necessary updates while minimizing disruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan quarterly PSU/RU and CPU patches using OPatch tools
• Execute Grid Infrastructure patching with ASM and Data Guard
• Perform RMAN backups and post-patch validation checks




• Track DB CVEs and ensure compliance with EOL.
• Author RFC/CAB submissions for patches and manage approvals
Requirements:
• Solid knowledge of Oracle 11g/19c platforms
• Experience with OPatch, opatchauto, datapatch tools
• ITIL 4 Foundation certification required
• Oracle Certified Professional preferred
• Background in financial services patching is a plus
