We are looking for a candidate who is a strong writer, an energetic builder, and a clear communicator and collaborator. The Shorenet Education Lead will focus on developing Shorenet's learning content and carrying the educational thought leadership that flows through the network -- new learning resources and modules, a micro credential in place-based economic development, and the curriculum for the "[Name] in Place" programmes. Reporting to the Manager, Shorenet and Convening, this position is deliberately focused on content development rather than logistics and will also carry a share of the Institute's consulting portfolio.

What You'll Do

Learning Content and Curriculum

- Develop new Shorenet learning resources and modules, and design and deliver the learning programmes across the membership tiers and the online learning offering

- Develop a micro credential in place-based economic development for Shorenet, from curriculum design through to delivery

- Build the curriculum and content for the "[Name] in Place" programmes, in partnership with the Manager, Shorenet and Convening, who leads delivery and logistics

- Develop and maintain Shorenet's toolsets and resources library, including the ABCDE methodology, keeping content current and accessible to members

Thought Leadership

- Lead the educational and practitioner thought leadership carried through the network, including articles, publications, and the community economics webinar series

- Support the Cases for Places series, turning the network's practice into usable, shareable content

- Represent the Institute as a speaker at programme-related gatherings and events as required

Consulting

- • Deliver some consulting workshops, sharing the wider consulting portfolio with the Manager, Shorenet and Convening. Larger bespoke engagements, particularly with major funders, are led by the Program Director

Qualifications and Experience

- Experience in instructional or curriculum design would be a robust advantage
- A strong writer, able to translate practice into clear learning content and publications

- Familiarity with community economic development and place-based practice

- Facilitation credentials and experience leading workshops and learning sessions

- Credentials open; a relevant degree is welcome

- Bilingualism in English and French would be an asset

- Based in Newfoundland and Labrador or Ontario

- Energized by building things, whether modules, curricula, stories, or publications

- Clear communicator and collaborator across the team, practitioners, and partners

- Willing to travel to Fogo Island and other partner communities as required

- Committed to the values and mission of Shorefast, and treats communities as economic actors with assets and agency

What We Offer

- Competitive salary ($75,000–$85,000 per annum), full-time, permanent position

- Health and dental benefits, along with access to an employee assistance program for mental health support and work/life services

- Team member discounts within our businesses (Fogo Island Inn and Fogo Island Workshops)

- The technology necessary to complete your work, along with a cellphone plan

- Travel to Fogo Island, and allowances for travel
- An engaged, highly supportive, and collaborative environment that encourages creativity and curiosity
- The opportunity to work in a thriving social enterprise

- Continued learning and professional development training
